Senior Business Development Manager, Hong Kong

The Australian Trade and Investment Commission (Austrade) is looking for a Senior Business Development Manager, based in Hong Kong. The Senior Business Development Manager (SBDM) promotes Australian business by developing and expanding business networks to optimise trade opportunities in the food and beverage (F&B) sector, leading an existing small team of F&B BDMs.


Duties include

  • Represent Austrade and Australia in playing a key role in promoting and supporting Australian businesses by optimising existing and establishing new business networks to take advantage of F&B opportunities in Hong Kong.

  • Work closely with businesses to determine their needs and help them develop international growth strategies specific to the market.

  • Provide advice on post and market trends, assess their impact on trade and investment opportunities and provide insight into the development of trade and investment strategies for Australia.

  • Maximise the potential of the Hong Kong market and assist in the identification and removal of barriers to market entry.

  • Lead in the creation of business plans and activities to achieve Austrade Hong Kong’s objectives in the F&B sector.

  • Implement Austrade’s market strategies across the F&B sector, including managing a small team, relevant initiatives and business-matching activities and delivery of presentations to target audiences.

  • Work collaboratively with Austrade colleagues in Australia, States, Territories, and partners (professional firms and Industry bodies).

  • Clearly communicate Austrade’s services and value proposition to clients and partners.

  • Provide the Trade Commissioner/Senior Trade Commissioner with analysis and insights on:
    – export and outward investment opportunities for Australian companies in the F&B sector
    – market trends and specified business information.

Eligibility 
To be eligible for consideration and appointment you must have:

  • Work Authorisation - to be eligible for employment with Austrade in Hong Kong, candidates must be legally authorised to live and work in Hong Kong at the time of appointment.

  • Language - the successful candidate must be a highly motivated team member, fluent in written and spoken English.

  • Security Clearance - the successful applicant must be willing to complete an Entry Level Screening Pack and be confirmed as a suitable person to access Government resources prior to commencement in the role.
