Carolyn Atkinson is the Counsellor (Public Affairs) at the Australian Embassy in Beijing. Her role is to strengthen understanding of Australia within China.

Carolyn is a career diplomat. She was Counsellor (Political-Economic) at the Australian High Commission in Singapore from 2016 until June 2019. From 2013 until 2015, Carolyn was seconded as an adviser to the Department of Prime Minister and Cabinet. She was First Secretary (Economic) at Australia’s Embassy in the Philippines from 2008 until 2011. Prior to this Carolyn worked in a variety of roles, including in consular crisis management, economic and public diplomacy and trade. Carolyn joined the Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade in 2006, prior to which she worked at the Department of Industry, Science and Resources.

卡洛琳目前担任澳大利亚驻中国大使馆参赞(公共事务)一职。她的职责是加强中国国内对澳大利亚的了解。

作为一名职业外交官,卡洛琳在亚洲拥有丰富的工作经验。 本次赴任前,她曾担任澳大利亚外交贸易部经济外交处处长。

卡洛琳于 2016 年至 2019 年 6 月担任澳大利亚驻新加坡高级专员公署参赞(政治经济)。2013 年至 2015 年,卡洛琳被借调至总理内阁部担任顾问。2008 年至 2011 年,她在澳大利亚驻菲律宾大使馆担任一等秘书(经济)。此前,卡洛琳还在领事危机管理和公共外交和贸易等领域从事过多项工作。 卡洛琳曾在工业、科学和资源部工作并于 2006 年加入外交贸易部。

Ken invested a few start-ups and is the mentor of incubators both in Australia and in China. Ken is an alumni of Macquarie University. Ken was the Ambassador of Sydney Kings.

Ar Joseph Kwan MH is an internationally recognised leader, architect and expert in accessible built environments with more than 40 years’ experience in architecture and environmental psychology practice. He has worked extensively in Australia, the United Kingdom, France and Hong Kong. Mr Kwan has dedicated his career to making Hong Kong, and other communities around the world, more accessible for the elderly and people with disabilities, with a particular focus on the built environment, city planning, public transportation and tourism. He believes passionately that accessibility plays a fundamental role in ensuring equality and the safe and full participation of all citizens in their communities. He is the Founding Director of UDA (Universal Design & Accessibility) Consultants Ltd. As a passionate forerunner and respected advocate in the ‘Barrier-Free Access’ (BFA) arena in Hong Kong since 1987, Mr Kwan has provided expert consultancy on universal accessibility design and performed access audit services for numerous construction projects, including government buildings and precincts, 20 hospitals, 8 universities ; and professional advice to many public places such as the Kai Tak Sports Park and the West Kowloon Cultural District Development in Hong Kong. Mr Kwan regularly gives his time and expertise advising a whole host of committees for local government, professional institutions, non-government organizations, and disabled persons organizations across Hong Kong and beyond. In addition, he has lectured globally in 34 countries on universal access and inclusive design. In 2001 he was awarded the prestigious “Medal of Honour” by the Hong Kong government for his work and commitment to inclusive design.

关国乐先生是享誉国际的建筑师,致力于无障碍建筑及包容性城市的研究和发展,先后在澳大利亚、英国、法国和香港从事建筑行业超过40年。 关国乐先生致力于在香港,甚至全球范围内推动无障碍设计,通过构建环境、优化城市规划以及公共交通,为老年人及残障人士提供更友好的居住环境。他深信”通行无阻”是保障市民安全和生活质量,鼓励市民投入参与到社区的基础。 关国乐先生创立了通用设计与无障碍(UDA)顾问公司,现任董事总经理一职。自1987年起,关国乐先生一直在前沿推动香港公共场所的”无障碍通道”化。20年来,他先后为数百个建筑项目提供无障碍设计及审查服务,其中包括政府大楼和警区、20家医院、8所大学,以及香港科学馆、香港亚洲协会文化会议中心、海港城和香港时代广场等公共场所。 此外,关国乐先生利用自身的专业知识,在业余时间参与主持香港境内相关行业组织,为服务中心、互助小组和教育项目提供协助。 他还在全球34个国家讲授无障碍和通用设计。 2001年,关国乐先生因其在通用设计领域的成就和贡献,获得香港政府颁予的”荣誉勋章”。

A/Executive Director, Study Queensland


Kylie Cooper was appointed Acting Executive Director of Study Queensland in March 2023. She leads a high performing team that supports Queensland’s International Education and Training sector and has led the development and implementation of the Queensland International Education and Training Strategy (2022-2027).

Kylie has extensive experience working across the Queensland Government in economic policy, regional development, research and innovation strategy and program delivery. She has designed and delivered a wide range of innovative grant, partnership and procurement programs across government, and represented the state on Commonwealth, State and Territory forums on innovation and international education and training.

As Project Manager in the Department of the Premier and Cabinet, she worked with the Queensland Chief Scientist to develop Queensland’s first whole-of- government research and development strategy.
As Director, Innovation Policy with the Department of Science, Information Technology and Innovation, Kylie led a team of innovation policy and program professionals to deliver innovation policy and strategy supporting the Advance Queensland agenda, and the development and delivery of a range of state-wide innovation programs.

Her background also includes tertiary education, with four years at The University of Queensland (UQ), where she developed the first UQ Entrepreneurship Strategy and delivered new entrepreneurship programs, events and activities. Kylie has spoken at numerous conferences and events and been a university guest lecturer on innovation and government policy.

Dr. Lu Jian Zhong, currently Board Member of Global Reporting Initiative GRI and Deputy Director General of China CSR Think Tank,Deputy Chairman of Shanghai Foreign Invested Association.
He performed many senior executive roles for more than 20 years in a variety of industry sectors and multinational companies, such as President General Affairs Essilor Greater China, President China of The Weir Group, and Global Partner of Brunswick Group, Executive Vice President of Singapore RGE Group (China) and Chief Representative, Chairman of RGE subsidiary Asia Symbol Paper & Pulp Ltd, Acting President of BHP Billiton (China). In his roles of leading China operation in the companies, he made significant contribution to help those companies establish and promote their business strategy, commercial development and growth, organizational development, operating excellency and continuous improvement, social responsibility, employee engagement and development, corporate branding and profiling, risk and crisis management as well as sustainability initiatives. Dr Lu is also Deputy Director of Sustainability Council of China Academic Committee of Management, Member of PRME Committee China (UN Principles for Responsible Management Education), Member of the Examination and Curriculum Committee of Hongkong Institute of Education for Sustainable Development, invited expert of the China Federation of Industries and Economics Think Tank, member of Shenzhen Municipal Strategic Advisory Board for advanced manufacturing, Promoter of China 100 people CSR Forum, Founding Director of Ziya Business School. Dr. Lu is the column writer for “China Business News”, “Economy Observation”, and editor-in-Chief and co-author of the book “The Road of Vision” which is a publication illustrating the development and success of Essilor (China) in China market.

Dr. Lu acquired PhD of Ecommerce (Royal Melbourne Institute of Technology) , Master Degree of Industrial Innovation Management Ecole Centrale de Paris, and Bachelor Degree of Chemical Engineering Zhejiang University.

Philippa Jones
Managing director, China Policy, Beijing


Following a career in economic research and diplomatic service, Philippa created China Policy in 2011. Immersed in the company’s coverage across macroeconomy, industry, environment, science and innovation, social and governance and geopolitical issues, she brings cross-sectoral synthesis to emerging issues. She advises clients in the public, private and non-profit sectors.
 
She has supported many Australian students in Beijing. Among the most memorable moments being when her Sanlitun living room was used as one of the first venues for ACYA events in Beijing。
 
Philippa worked as a senior advisor on China trade policy issues for the European Commission 2004-09. From 1999-2004, during China’s WTO accession, she was responsible for bilateral and multilateral trade issues at the Australian Embassy, Beijing. Prior to her appointment in Beijing she was an officer of the Australian Department of Foreign Affairs in Canberra. Ms Jones holds an honours degree in Chinese and economics from the University of Oxford.
