On 28 August 2025, the Australia China Alumni Association (ACAA), in collaboration with the Sydney University Postgraduate Representative Association (SUPRA) and with the generous support of the Scanlon Foundation, successfully hosted the Social Integration and Workplace Development Forum at the University of Sydney’s Susan Wakil Health Building.

The forum brought together alumni, students, and professionals to explore how to navigate multicultural workplaces, foster career development, and strengthen social integration. It provided a platform for sharing experiences, exchanging ideas, and building meaningful connections across different industries and backgrounds.
From the moment guests arrived, the atmosphere was filled with warmth and energy. Volunteers greeted attendees with genuine enthusiasm, conversations quickly filled the room, and participants were eager to gain insights from the evening’s discussions. It was a memorable gathering where old friends reconnected and new friendships were formed.
The speakers, all outstanding representatives of our alumni community, shared thought-provoking insights based on their own journeys. Steven Hu spoke about his career transitions and encouraged participants to view unexpected changes as opportunities for growth. Curt Shi highlighted Australia’s unique role as a bridge between China and the United States and pointed to emerging opportunities in AI, digital assets, and lifestyle industries. Michele Zhuang emphasised that adaptation goes beyond language, requiring mindset, cultural awareness, and active participation. Chanjie (CJ) Qin underscored the importance of clear and culturally sensitive communication in building trust and achieving successful collaboration in diverse workplaces.

Throughout the three-hour program, participants actively engaged with questions and shared their own experiences of studying and working across cultures. Many left with fresh perspectives, practical advice, and valuable new professional connections. For students and young alumni, the forum was both inspiring and encouraging, offering guidance for future career planning and personal growth.

Thanks to all partners, speakers, and volunteers who contributed to the success of this event. Your support helped create a meaningful space for dialogue, learning, and connection.
Looking ahead, the ACAA remains committed to empowering alumni, connecting communities, and fostering cross-cultural understanding. The Social Integration and Workplace Development Forum will also be held in Brisbane and Melbourne in the coming months, and we look forward to welcoming more alumni and students to continue this journey of diversity, integration, and growth together.
