About the Event
The Australia China Alumni Association is proud to honour Professor Li-Wei Qin, a world-renowned cellist and distinguished alumnus, for his outstanding contributions to classical music and his role as a cultural bridge between Australia and China.
🔹 About Professor Li-Wei Qin
Professor Qin, acclaimed for his "meltingly beautiful tone, flawless intonation, and ironclad technique" (New York Times), rose to international prominence after winning the Silver Medal at the 11th Tchaikovsky International Competition and First Prize at the 2001 Naumburg Competition. Born in Shanghai and raised in Australia from the age of 13, Professor Qin studied in Melbourne before earning scholarships to the Royal Northern College of Music and the Guildhall School of Music and Drama. His illustrious career has included performances with the world's leading orchestras, appearances at major global events, and critically acclaimed recordings with Decca and Sony Classical.
