Investment NSW is a central agency for business to engage with NSW Government, which has been enabled by bringing together several groups from across government into the Enterprise, Investment and Trade cluster.
As a central agency, Investment NSW drives all trade and investment attraction activities within the NSW Government, to maximise economic benefits and jobs growth.
Investment NSW:
Targets local and global businesses to drive investment

Acts as a single point of accountability and central agency for the private sector

Based in Shanghai, China, the NSW Trade and Investment Director - International Education, identifies and captures opportunities to grow NSW’s international education sector, and support the state’s broader trade and investment objectives across China.
The job holder develops and maintains extensive networks with stakeholders across a wide range of sectors in NSW and China, especially from education and scholarship providers, education agents, alumni, government and industry. The job holder also: promotes, and advances the interests, in market of NSW’s international education and training and research sectors, as part of the state’s broader trade and investment strategies; supports local market events and engagement; and fosters commercial outcomes and bilateral engagement of government and industry leaders.
The successful candidate will have:
Market research and analysis including the use of software and surveys.
Working with China markets and in NSW.
Working strategically and leveraging commercial acumen to achieve outcomes.
Language – high level of proficiency in both English and standard Mandarin languages.
Understanding of the international education, research and trade and investment sectors.
Cross-cultural written and verbal communication skills to accurately report progress and performance.
Understanding government processes to be able to contribute to international education, research, trade and investment activities.
Working with social media technology and platforms widely used in the China business environment.
Developing and maintaining effective relationships with a high number of relevant business and government representatives.
Delivering against objectives via a diverse range of activities with multiple stakeholders, in some instances with short or competing deadlines.
Promoting NSW comparative advantages to the international business and investment communities in a context of global competition.
Maintaining channels and systems to collect credible market intelligence and analysis in a fast-paced, changing economic environment.
