What is the Australia China Alumni Association?
The Australia China Alumni Association (ACAA) is an inclusive organization, open to all Alumni of Australian Universities, who are living in China.
The ACAA will serve as a high-profile umbrella organization with the aims of promoting Australian Education via the success of Alumni, and supporting Alumni in China through business and social networking, career development and so on. We are proud to have the Australian Ambassador to China, Dr Geoff Raby, serve as the ACAA's Patron. Dr Raby actively supports the growth and development of the ACAA in China.
The ACAA will also support the development of strong sustainable individual University Alumni Chapters across China.
Who can join the ACAA?
The Australia China Alumni Association (ACAA) is an inclusive organization, which operates nationally across China. Membership is open to all Alumni of Australian Universities, who are living in China, and meet one of the following criteria:
- Graduate of an Australian University, having studied in Australia
- Graduate of an Australian University, having studied on-line
- Graduate of an Australian University off-shore / twinning program, having studied outside Australia / partially outside Australia
- Anyone who has spent at least one year in Australia studying at an Australian university (eg study abroad students who undertook 2 or more semesters of study)

What are the benefits of paid ACAA membership?
The ACAA offers a host of benefits to alumni members, whether you are new to China, a recent returnee, or studied in Australia many years ago.
To become a member, simply register on this website, then pay your 100RMB annual membership fee at the first ACAA event you attend. Member benefits include:
- Discounted member prices at ACAA's regular events
- Priority seating at ACAA events
- Access to exclusive members-only events
- Opportunity to nominate for a seat on the ACAA Steering Committee
- Career advice, accommodation assistance, alumni profiling and other support to help you integrate (or re-integrate) into life in China
Am I an ACAA member?
ACAA membership is a two-step process. First, register your details on our website and you'll immediately start receiving our event updates and other news.
Then, when you come to one of our events, you can pay the RMB100 annual membership fee to enjoy all the ACAA member benefits, including event discounts.
We don't currently have online payment facilities, but contact us if you'd like to pay by direct deposit and we'll provide our account details.

Who can attend ACAA events?
Most ACAA events will be open to Australian University Alumni and Friends. However, some events will be held for ACAA (paid-up) members only. Members will be entitled to special member discounts on entry tickets to all ACAA events, as well as priority ticket allocation and seating.Visit our registration page to start the membership process, or contact us to arrange payment.
How can I volunteer with ACAA?
ACAA is a not-for-profit organisation and we're always looking for skilled volunteers to help us with event management, design work, publicity and media engagement.
If you have relevant skills and would like some work experience with ACAA, please contact us with a brief outline of your skills and experience.
We currently have offices in Beijing, Shanghai and Guangzhou and we're building volunteer committees in those cities. If you live elsewhere we can also help you to form an alumni committee in your city, please contact us to find out how.
Why isn't my university a partner?
Australia China Alumni Association is a not-for-profit association dedicated to building an active, connected and diverse alumni network across China.
Alumni from all Australian universities are welcome to register to attend our events, and become paid-up members of ACAA to receive event discounts and other benefits.
But, an organisation like ours requires financial support. So far, we are privileged to have some twenty one university funding partners supporting us in our work. New university partners are always welcome to join ACAA and we always look forward to hearing from them.
Meanwhile, come along to our events to meet former students of all Australian universities and enjoy their company!
Are there famous Australian-educated alumni in China?
What do China's Vice Minister of Health, the Founder of Suntech, one of the world's leading solar panel manufacturers, , and the Mayor of Qingdao all have in common? All are alumni of Australian universities!We estimate there are somewhere between 100,000 and 200,000 alumni of Australian Universities living in China. That group includes a tremendous number of highly successful alumni working in government and across different industries.
