Overview
The origins of the Australia China Alumni Association’s Education Committee (ACAAEC) are as unique as they are pertinent. The ACAAEC has been created by the sector, for the sector. It’s origins stem from industry professionals who have been working for Australian international education institutions for a number of years and felt that there was a lack of voice, a hub for information sharing and a platform for feedback and networking to continue the development of Australian international education within China and abroad. The ACAAEC sets itself apart by being established in this reactionary approach by those who deal with the implications on a daily basis. The 5 founders, representing 5 Australian Universities, are a non biased and diverse board, who along with full time members of the ACAA create direction and set goals for the ACAAEC. The ACAAEC also complements its established core by synergizing with similar organizations and government departments within the Australian Embassy, Beijing (AEI, Austrade, and DIAC).

Aims
The ACAAEC aims are to:→ Organise a series of tailor-made events, including supporting pre-departure briefings
→ Provide a voice (and a feedback channel) for the Australian education industry in China
→ Conduct valuable market surveys (e.g. a graduate employment survey)
→ Facilitate increased promotion & branding via alumni and in the media
→ Exchange market intelligence
→ Provide a permanent avenue for industry networking
→ Monitor and comment on policy changes in both Australia and China
→ Facilitate increased bi-directional briefings between Australian university representatives in China and the governments of Australia and China
With as large, dynamic and competitive industry as Australian Education, the number of opportunities for development and input is inherent. The ACAAEC with this in mind will, as a priority, work to undertake the following activities:
→ Sharing of (non-sensitive) market intelligence
→ Advocate policy which is well tailored to the actual market situation
→ Supporting pre-departure briefings through identifying alumni volunteers
→ Organize professional education-specific networking events
→ Government briefings with AEI, Austrade and DIAC (Immigration) to ensure a good bi-directional and timely flow of information amongst those working at the "coal-face" in China.
