Australia China Alumni Association Beijing Branch
The Australia China Alumni Association (ACAA) established its first branch in Beijing in September 2007 with a formal launch event held at the Australian Embassy in Beijing. Beijing has since become the headquarters with subsequent branches launched in Shanghai (July 2008) and Guangzhou (July 2009).Today the Beijing branch engages over 1500 alumni in the greater Beijing area and the Beijing office, co-located with the Beijing Consulting Group, houses 4 staff. The Beijing team organizes events in the Beijing area, supports the growth of individual university alumni chapters in Beijing, manages the ACAA website, produces the ACAA e-newsletter, and drives expansion nationally.

Beijing Branch staff
Mr Edward Smith, Founder and National Steering Committee member, has spent more than 18 years living in China and is an alumnus of Melbourne and Monash Universities and has also studied in China at the Beijing Second Foreign Language Institute and the John Hopkins Centre at Nanjing University. Edward is a fluent Mandarin speaker and also serves as the Managing Director of the Beijing Consulting Group, and a member of the Advisory Board of the Australia China Youth Association (ACYA). Mr Michael Dalic, Director of Communications and Development (Beijing), is an Australian national who spent the best part of the last 4 years living between China and Australia, travelling to over 30 cities across the country and living extensively in Nanjing and Harbin. He graduated from RMIT University with a Bachelor of Arts (International Studies). In 2008 he was awarded a University Mobility Asia-Pacific (UMAP) scholarship and was sent to Nanjing as a UMAP Australian Young Ambassador and in 2009, Harbin Commercial University offered him a lectureship where he helped co-author and create Harbin's only Australian Studies course. More recently, Michael has been working in Beijing as the business development representative for an Australian consulting company and is the current treasurer of the Australia China Youth Association, Beijing Chapter. He comes to ACAA with extensive experience in event management, professional communications and corporate marketing and hopes to help ACAA grow to its fullest potential. Ms Jessica Jia, Memberships & Events Manager, is a Beijing local who has worked for the ACAA since its launch in September 2007. She graduated with an English degree from Beijing Peili University and has been assisting the ACAA with organizing events in the Beijing area as well as managing memberships, website content in Chinese and assisting with database management. Ms Zhang Ning, Special Projects Manager, holds a Masters degree in International Financial Management from the University of Groningen, The Netherlands, and a Bachelors degree in Economics from Beijing University of Technology. Ning works part-time for the ACAA and brings extensive experience in PR / events and government relations having worked at the Netherlands Education Support Office (NESO) assisting with development of the Netherlands Alumni Network in China (NANC) .
