David Wang (Wang Weixian) graduated from the University of Technology, Sydney with a Bachelor of Business and is the Chairman and founder of the SPG Land Holdings Ltd (SPG), a China-wide property development and investment corporation based in Shanghai and listed on the Hong Kong Stock Exchange.

David has gained broad international experience in finance, construction, property development and investment. He founded Starwaly Properties Group Ltd, the original holding company for various property projects of the SPG Group, in Australia in February 1999.

SPG has since dramatically grown and now holds a proud record in the successful development of large scale master planned residential communities and mixed use urban projects including schools, office and retail centres. The company's hotel properties include the acclaimed (named Best Worldwide Business Hotel in 2010 by Fortune Magazine) Peninsula on the Bund in Shanghai, and Holiday Inn Shanghai Pudong Kangqiao. David is a hands-on Chairman and has been instrumental in growing the corporation to now employ around 1290 staff and a substantial national property portfolio.

In Shanghai he established the SIPO Polytechnic to give students of poorer families' training in nursing, trades and management. He has made further contributions to the education community as a counsellor of the Shanghai Soong Ching Ling Foundation and as a member of the international The Nature Conservancy - China Branch. He is also active in international commerce as a standing member of the Shanghai Overseas Exchange Association.

In 2010, Mr Wang made a gift of AUD 5Million in 2010 to the Nan Tien Temple in Australia to establish a private university for education in Asian business and cultural practice – The Nan Tian Institute. He also contributed AUD1.5M to The Nature Conservancy (TNC), China to support TNC in protecting vital habitats and fresh water in China for generations to come.
SPG Land also donated AUD300,000 in 2008 and AUD500,000 in 2010 through the Song Ching Ling Foundation to a project promoting educational opportunities for women and children. Other donations included $470,000 to relief efforts for flood-affected areas in Haikou, Hainan in 2010, AUD100,000 to provide education opportunities for students in Huangshan region in 2011.

Mr. Paul Glasson graduated from La Trobe University with a Bachelor of Social Science, majoring in Philosophy, and is currently Chairman of Satori Investments Greater China; Vice President of the Australia China Business Council; Chief Representative in China of Atlas Iron Ltd; Chief Representative of HRL Ltd; and Director of Aokai Co. Ltd.

Paul first came to China in 1997 and has resided in Shanghai since 1999, where he is married with two children. From 2004-2008, he worked together with KPMG Australia building their advisory practice to Chinese companies investing in Australia.

Paul has twice been acknowledged by the Boao Forum of Asia as Young Leader in China in 2009 and 2010. He was also recognized by the Australian Newspaper in 2008 as “one of the most influential Australians in China.”

Paul established Satori Investments Greater China in 2001 to focus on outbound activities of Chinese companies with more than $10Bn of capital raised in Australia and to assist Australian companies to raise capital for large capex projects in Australia.

Paul has contributed five years to developing and supporting the Australia China Business Council (ACBC)’s work in China and Australia. The role remains pro bono and Paul has also periodically donated financially to the organization to enhance its capacities. He plays a pivotal advocacy role with ACBC in promoting bi-lateral relationship including holding Forums and Dialogues where the highest leaders from China and Australia both participated.

Paul is the Chief Representative of Atlas Iron--Australia’s fourth largest iron ore producer. With his assistance, Atlas has undertaken three key transactions moved the company from a 300M market cap to $3Bn in 2011.

Paul has been working with HRL in the Chief Representative role since 2005. HRL has entered into an arrangement with China for a lead Chinese EPC contractor and Chinese financier to develop the 600MW IDGCC Power Plant in the Latrobe Valley in Victoria.

Paul and his wife, Shang Jing, support ten children annually by providing scholarships for study in his wife’s home city in Jiangsu province.

Patrick is the current Commissioner for Greater China and Mongolia for the State Government of Victoria, Australia and graduated from RMIT University with Masters of Business Administration.

Patrick possesses a unique blend of private and public sector expertise with more than 25 years experience in senior sales, strategy, engineering and general management roles with multinational companies in the automotive, aerospace and defence sectors such as Qantas, Volvo and BAE Systems.

Since December 2009, he has been appointed as Victoria’s Commissioner to Greater China and Mongolia. The Commissioner is Victoria's chief representative with broad responsibility for representing Victorian commercial, economic, cultural and educational interests in China. He is based in Shanghai and is responsible for leading Victoria's largest overseas trade network including offices in Beijing, Shanghai, Hong Kong and Nanjing and Guangzhou. The China network of offices enables the Victorian Government to deliver more than A$140 million of trade and investment contribution to its economy annually.

Mr. Bin Jun Zhuang AM is currently the Group Manager for Business Development with Fortescue Metals Group Ltd after joining them in March 2012 and an Alumnus of The University of Western Australia (UWA). Prior to commencing his Masters of Business Administration at UWA he joined the Shanghai Branch of China International Travel Service as an interpreter and tour operator.

Mr. Zhuang’s three decades of dedicated public service began with his appointment to the Australian Consulate in Shanghai in 1984. From here, he joined the Western Australian Government, initially as an advisor to the Overseas Relations Office, and then as Manager at the China Desk, eventually becoming Regional Director of the Western Australian Trade Office based in Shanghai.

His work with the Western Australian government has been instrumental in developing Western Australia’s relationship with China. He is a passionate advocate for stronger investment ties between the two especially regarding China’s first LNG purchase and other numerous iron ore investments including the negotiations of a $25 billion Guangdong gas contract.

Mr. Zhuang has advised many Western Australia companies on their strategies in the People’s Republic of China. He is highly respected by the industry and the Western Australian Government for his contribution and assistance with creating and advising on the issue of trade with China. His contribution to this essential trade relationship was recognized in the 2004 Queen’s Birthday Honours list where he was appointed a Member of the Order of Australia.

Junling graduated from Flinders University with a Bachelor of Teaching and a Masters of International Business Administration. He is the co-founder and Chief Executive Officer of the Chinese online supermarket YiHaoDian, which began in 2008, and has become an exemplar for on-line retailing. In YiHaoDian's first year of operation the companies sales ammassed to 4.17M RMB, where in just a few years in 2011 this grew to 2.72B RMB. YiHaoDian has since received capital investment from global retailing giant Walmart and is the subject of a case study course in Wharton's MBA program. In November 2011, Deloitte recognised YiHaoDian as the fastest growing company in the Asia Pacific Region.

Before co-founding YiHaoDian, Mr. Liu was Co-President of Dell China and Hong Kong, while he also held senior management positons with Avaya China, Avaya Asia Pacific and Lucent Technologies.

Junling was named as “Top 10 Financial Figures of the Year in China’s IT Industry” in 2006 and “Top 10 Figures of the Year in Computer World” in 2007.

Jessie graduated from the University of Melbourne with a Bachelor of Commerce (Hons) degree, going on to complete her PhD at Monash University. She is Director with the public policy and regulatory affairs, quality control and risk management division of KPMG Huazhen.

Prior to joining KPMG-China, Dr. Wong was Senior Technical Manager with the International Auditing and Assurance Standards Board (IAASB) and earlier also with the International Ethics Standards Board for Accountants (IESBA) at the International Federation of Accountants (IFAC). She was also former Policy Advisor with CPA Australia and CPA Australia’s representative for a number of prominent national discussion groups that brought together key accounting firms, accounting professions among other key players in the industry.

At the IAASB, Jessie was responsible for projects on the IAASB’s work program including revision of certain international Standards on Auditing as well as managing and running project task forces consisting of senior representatives from organizations such as the International Organisation of Securities Commission (IOSCO), the European Commission (EC) among others.

She is also currently an Adjunct Fellow at the Australian National University.

Richard completed a Bachelor of Design (Architecture) at the University of Newcastle, going on to complete both his Bachelor of Architecture (Hons) and Master of Urban Development & Design at the University of New South Wales. During his studies at UNSW he received the Commissioner Hoffman Award in Urban Design and Planning. Today Richard is a Senior Associate of Urban Design at HASSELL.

In 2007, he commenced work as an Urban Designer at HASSELL. In this role he has worked on Government projects valued at AUD$12 Billion.

In 2009 he brought his talents to China and by 2012 he accepted the position as a Senior Associate and leader of the Urban Design Team at HASSELL Shanghai. He has led his team on many urban design projects including the Zhoushan Xiaogan Island Business District Competition, Wuxi Tianyi Retail Centre & CBD and Tangshan New City Gateway Parklands among others.

Richard has most recently led HASSELL’s Binhai High Speed Station Interchange Hub design which has been shortlisted for the World Architecture Festival Award.

Professor Lin is a graduate of the University of Adelaide and the University of South Australia gaining a Bachelor of Computing System Engineering (Hons) degree and a PhD (Engineering) degree respectively. He is currently an Associate Professor at Harbin Institute of Technology (Shenzhen Graduate School).

Professor Lin has been the recipient of a number of awards, including an Australian Postgraduate Award (Industry) (APAI) scholarship for his PhD studies and a Postdoctoral Fellowship in 2008 from the Japan Society for the Promotion of Science. He was further awarded Best Paper of the 2011 International Conference on Innovation in Bio-inspired Computing and Application as well as Best Paper of the 2010 International Conference on Automation and Logistics and Best Paper in the 2010 3rd Japan-China Joint Symposium on Information Systems.

While working in China he has penned 3 Journal Papers and 6 Conference papers on various topics regarding Computing Systems and whilst in Australia has helped raise awareness of Leukemia through his participation in the “World’s Greatest Shave”, as well as donating some of his spare time to teach English to young children.

Weixuan graduated from Queensland University of Technology with a Masters of Business (International Business) and currently holds a number of roles. She is currently the Manager of the Industrial Bank Branch Office and Deputy Manager of the Australia and NZ Education Department at the Study Abroad Division of the EIC Group (Guangzhou Branch).

Since joining the EIC Group, Weixuan has steadily progressed from Marketing Manager to Deputy Manager and finally to her current managerial position in the space of 4 years.

In her dual role she has re-branded the Australia Education market for her sector; led her team to extend its market share; and has continually achieved sales despite downturn of the Australian international education market in 2010-2011. Her EIC Guangzhou office accounts for more than 50% of the market share in South China, sending over 1,500 students to study in Australia annually.

She also has provided input into several Education programs including the Perth Education City Road Show (since 2008), Education Adelaide Academic Road Show (since 2010) and the Queensland Road Show (since 2011).

Ken Wu is a Flinders University alumnus with a Master degree in Education. He is currently the Dean of the Overseas-Study Consultation Institute, Global Education Group, Pearson, the largest education group in the world.
He first made a name for himself by giving lectures and classes at Peking University at the age of 22. After graduating in Australia, he was appointed guest expert in his field at five renowned mainstream mediums: Sina, Sohu, NetEast, Tencent and Renren.com.

He has been invited to visit the University of Oxford and Cambridge academically and gave lectures to undergraduates and postgraduates at Trinity College on his experiences. He was also interview by BBC London being the first teacher born after the 1980’s to ever have that honor in China.

In his current role Ken is responsible for a number of marketing, training and consulting roles. Under his leadership and influence in China, he has led the company in achieving more than 23% growth on student enrollment and 17% net profit in general each year.

One of his most influential projects has been the “Elite workshop”. In the past two years, it has helped ordinary students with poor academic backgrounds to succeed in enrolling in such Universities such as Cambridge, Oxford, MIT, Yale and many other world-class universities and institutions.

Natellie graduated from the University of New South Wales with a Bachelor of Arts (Japanese and Human Resources Management) going on to complete her Masters of Business Administration with the University of Newcastle. She is now the current Director of Michael Page International.

Natellie has previously worked with various companies such as INTERAC (Japan), Rendezvous Hotel as an Assistant Office Manager and OMX Group as a HR Coordinator.

When she was 26, she moved to China and joined Michael Page International focusing on Finance recruitment as a consultant. There she became the Top Biller for the last quarter of 2008; and then became the ‘Top Biller’ in 2009 and 2010 for China. She also doubled her team’s revenue and increased staff numbers by 60% in 2011 with further growth in 2012.

She quickly progressed through the ranks in Michael Page International, becoming Senior Consultant in 2009, Manager in 2010, and Senior Manager in 2011 and finally in late 2011 promoted to the position of Director becoming one of Michael Page’s faster promotions by tenure globally and the youngest Director in the Asia pacific region.

As Director of the Finance recruitment division, she oversees a staff of 35 consultants plus support staff and running a million dollars business. Under her leadership, her team has gained the number 1 market share in Shanghai for specialist recruitment in Finance in 2012 – 3 times larger than the next competitor. She also was key contributor in the set up of a new office in Suzhou and the team appointed there and in the process of launching a new brand of Michael Page’s business to China.

Dylan graduated from Macquarie University with Bachelor of Commerce (Accounting). During his time as Macquarie he co-founded the Macquarie Innovative Business Society (MIBS) with two other and served as its Vice-Chairman for two years. The MIBS is now a legally registered association at Macquarie University.

He has since gone on to become an Option Analyst at BOC International Futures Limited. After graduating from Macquarie, Dylan worked as an Index Future Analyst at BOC International Futures then for a time was employed as a Research Analyst of the option market development team at China Financial Future Exchange, before coming back to BOC International as an Option Analyst.

During his time with BOC International, Dylan’s company has worked with major companies such as Morgan Stanley (Hong Kong), BNP Paris and other international investment banks. As a research analyst he has also participated in the design and development of the option market in China.
Dylan also founded the Institutional Analyst Club (the largest non-profit international Chinese youth financial analysts association) and still serves as Chairman. The club has more than 1600 members from top business schools around the world.

Edmond graduated from the University of Western Sydney with a Master of Business Administration and is now a Partner of Restructuring Services (RS) with Deloitte & Touche Financial Advisory Services Limited.

Edmond has over 25 years experience in the financial sector, specializing in the area of corporate rescue and recovery, corporate and debt restricting, and receivership and liquidation. He was previously responsible for establishing Deloitte’s RS office in Shanghai where it was the first ever Deloitte RS office to be based in Mainland China. He has overseen this project to build the office from 1 staff, to a staffing group of over 60 full time staff with 5 partners in 5 offices including Beijing, Shanghai, Shenzhen, Guangzhou and Dongguan.

Edmond was the lead partner on the first case where Deloitte was appointed by a PRC court under new bankruptcy law on the restructuring of a PRC manufacturing company involving over 1,600 creditors.

He was CEO when ANZ completed its investment in both Tianjin City Commercial Bank and Shanghai Rural Commercial Bank.

Mr. McGregor over the years has been active in his community services, and in 2008 he was awarded the Magnolia Silver Award for his “valuable support to Shanghai’s development and outstanding contribution to our friendly cooperation” by the Shanghai Municipal People’s Government. Ms. Luo joined the Ministry of Commerce in 1988 after her undergraduate studies in China, initially working for the Foreign Economic Cooperation Department focusing on overseas investment and international procurement. She was then stationed on the Chinese overseas mission in Barbados overseeing Chinese trade and economic affairs in the Caribbean. She then returned to China and further worked in areas of international procurement in drafting regulations.

After a time, she moved into the Bureau of Fair Trade for Imports and Exports where she was involved in anti-dumping investigations as well as development of free trade agreements, being the chief negotiator regarding free trade agreements with Australia, NZ, Iceland, Peru, Chile, Costa Rica and the Gulf states.

Following her return from her studies in Australia in 2008, she returned to the Bureau of Fair Trade and focused on the Policy Division for Free Trade Agreements. She then moved into her current position as Director in the Trade barrier Investigation Division. In this capacity she investigates trade barriers for Chinese exports among other duties. She has also continued to undertake a range of training for Chinese officials on a multitude of issues related to her work.

Professor Ma’s work spans numerous fields and he has published over 24 articles in recent years. His varied topics include research into the prevention and control of chronic non-communicable diseases and injuries, indentifying factors in suicide and the investigation of parasitic diseases in an epidemic prevention station in Guangdong Province. Additionally he has studied major public health issues such as pedestrian accidents, unsafe driving and drowning, and identified appropriate policy responses.

Professor Ma has also embarked on crucial research into the study of environmental factors that impact on public health. His work in this area includes research into the effects of air pollution on daily mortality rates in Guangzhou, and the impact of climate change on public health, focusing on the effects that climate change may have on malaria in the future.

Most notably, Dr. Chen was the recipient of China’s most prestigious national natural science award winning 2nd prize in 2011 (first place has not been filled since 2009), for the project entitled “energy storage and electrochemical performance of several types of inorganic materials including hydrogen, lithium, and magnesium.’

Dr. Liu has led many high level projects as the Chief Investigator (host) including a conjugate study on Pc5 pulsation at high latitude, a 300,000 RMB project support by the Natural Scientific Foundation of China and a collaborative research project on Space Plasma Waves between China and Australia. He also played a key role in a 10,000,000RMB project supported by the Natural Scientific Foundation of China on Geo-Space Storm courses at multi-temporal and spatial scales.

In recognition of his research, Dr. Liu won the Excellent Paper Award on Polar Scientific Research of China two years in a row (2009 and 2010). Professor Liu is the current Assistant Director at the National Institute for Communicable Disease Control and Prevention, Chinese Centre for Disease Control and Prevention (China CDC) and graduated from Griffith University with a Master of Science in Public Health.

Professor Liu is now also the Executive Vice Chairman and Secretary General for the International Forum for Sustainable Vector Management, the Director for the Shandong University Climate Change and Health Centre (SUCH), the President-elect for the Asian Society of Vector Ecology and Mosquito Control, an Adjunct Professor at Griffith University’s Centre for Environment and Population Health (CEPH), an executive member of two other international groups as well as Chairman of two Chinese national societies.

As the Chief Scientist of the National Basic Research Program of China Program in China and the IPCC AR5 Lead Author and through his involvement with national or international projects, the publication of more than 150 books and articles, and supervision of PhD and Masters students.

Professor Liu has also led a team of six key institutional partners to win a 30 million Yuan National Basic Research Program of China grant to develop both research and education for climate change and human health. Professor Liu was appointed the Chief Scientist for the project; and he has set up the Shandong University Climate Change and Health Centre.

Dr. Zhang is the current Professor in Epidemiology and Bio-statistics at the National Center for Chronic and Noncommunicable Disease Prevention and Control (CDC). He graduated with a PhD from the University of Newcastle focusing on Community Medicine and Clinical Epidemiology.

He is a prolific researcher with over 25 publications in national and international journals and books. He has investigated a wide range of topics including:

Dr. Gao is the founder and Director of the Breast Surgery Department at one of China’s Largest hospitals, Shanxi Dayi Hospital. He graduated from the University of Newcastle with a PhD, where his research investigated the association between mammographic density and breast cancer.

Dr. Gao has since committed himself to the modernization and standardization of breast cancer treatment and research in China.
Under his leadership, Dr. Gao’s department pioneered a number of areas in the treatment of breast cancer and also in research. These include:
1) routine sentinel lymph node biopsy during surgical resection of breast cancer;
2) standard breast-conserving surgery for patients with early breast cancer;
3) psychological support service to patients and families; and
4) regular breast cancer Multidisciplinary team meetings.

Dr. Gao has established the first ever breast cancer database in Shanxi Province, which has started to provide clinicians and researchers with invaluable clinical, pathological, and genetic information about breast cancer patients. Along with this, Dr. Gao and his colleagues have established the first comprehensive breast cancer registry network in the province.

He has published regularly in highly ranked journals on the topic of breast cancer and has also presented his work in a large number of major international breast cancer conferences. He has also been frequently invited to present lectures by a large number of hospitals and medical universities in China. He has been recognized as one of the most renowned medical specialists in Shanxi province.

Dr. Wang currently works as a Senior Software Research Engineer at Intel Asia Research and Development. He completed a Bachelor of Engineering (Computer Engineering) and Masters of Engineering (Research) Computer Science and Engineering at the University of New South Wales and a PhD in Telecommunication Engineering and Graduate Certificate in Research Commercialisation from the University of Wollongong.

Dr. Wang completed his research on critical instability issues for Ad hoc and Mesh networks where he completed 10 academic publications. Dr. Wang also helped developed the first commercial prototype of a mesh based remote livestock monitoring system as well as being selected as one of six Commercialisation Training Scheme (CTS) scholars from the university.

After completing his PhD in Telecommunication Engineering in 2010, Dr. Wang worked as a Software Engineer for Ralink Technology Corp where he was the key contributor to Ralink’s Wi-Fi Direct testbed solutions and delivered the world’s first Wi-Fi DirectTM certified USB dongle – Ralink RT5370. He also was ranked top 5% of performers in his company during annual performance reviews and was promoted to senior engineer within one year of service.

From 2011, Dr. Wang is involved in his currently work as Senior Software Research Engineer at Intel Asia Research and Development. He has been responsible for initiating and leading the think tank sessions that has lead to five new inventions being submitted to Intel’s Patent Committee for consideration in a space of 2 months. He also led the development of the first purposed built wireless access point solution for Intel® Classmate PC from its initiate idea generation, prototyping, proof of concept and then to product planning.

Professor Sun has published 11 papers from his PhD thesis including 2 in Nature, 1 in Geology, and 1 in Earth and Planetary Science Letters. He earned a “Science 100” position in the Chinese Academy of Science and won “Outstanding Young Scientist” two years after completing his PhD.

Eventown has rapidly grown to have nearly 3000 clients which include high level companies such as Cheung Kong, Swiss RE and PG etc. One of their most recent event was organizing the BCG WWOM meeting held in Beijing in May 2012, a US$ 300 million event that showcased Chinese culture to the world. This event involved organizing logistics for 6200 people, tours for 1600 people and 36 business visits from around the world among other.
Prior to establishing the Eventown Group, Leo was the Chief Press and Public Relations Officer of SOHU Changyou (Nasdaq: CYOU). He was the corporate spokesperson for the company, managing the media, investors and the Chinese government. Mina is an alumnus of Monash University graduating with a Bachelor in Law and Science and of the University of Melbourne with a Masters in Law.

She is currently CEO and Founder of both Peony Capital, a carbon investment company fund for environmentally friendly development projects within China, and Thirst, a Beijing based NGO working to increase awareness amongst young people in China of the global water crisis. Mina has developed carbon projects in China, India, Nepal and Indonesia representing more than USD2 billion. Mina leads Thirst, an initiative of the Young Global Leaders of the World Economic Forum, dedicated to changing the way the world thinks about water by educating young people about the global water crisis and providing them with tools to reduce their water consumption.

Despite only being created in August 2011, Thirst has educated over 10,000 students and grown rapidly in ICT and New Media spheres within China - reaching an estimated 100 million people in China alone.

Grace graduated from the University of South Australia with a MBA. She has worked for the SFECO Group for 20 years in a number of roles. She previously served as the General Manger of SFECO International and during that time built up a network of logistics services and expanded sales volume to over $150 million.

She recently established the Shanghai SFECO Pawnshop. SFECO Pawnshop has been the number one market player in motor vehicle mortgage loans in Shanghai for the past 3 years. She has also recently been assigned as a researcher at the Shanghai Academy of Social Sciences Pawn Research Center and has published several articles.

Catherine Graduated from the University of Technology, Sydney with a Masters of Communication Management. She is currently a well-known hostess of the the Guangdong Radio Station and Guangdong TV Station.

She has previously won the National Golden Microphone Award (the highest honour bestowed on hosts in the Chinese broadcasting industry). She has hosted a number of different radio shows and TV programs, acting as the MC for over 100 large scale performances and hosted an additional 20 events during the 2010 Asian Games in the Media Village of Guangzhou.

Further, Catherine has turned her attention to script writing and event planning, being the organiser of a number of large scale, nationally televised events.

Chris graduated from the University of Sydney with a Certificate in Marketing Communications.

An international public relations executive with 18 years of experience, Chris is the current Asia Pacific Managing Director of The Hoffman Agency, a global technology PR firm, overseeing the agency’s wholly-owned subsidiaries in Beijing, Shanghai, Tokyo, Seoul, Hong Kong and Singapore.

Over the last nearly two decades, Chris has been providing communications counsel to C-level executives from Fortune 500 companies as well as Chinese companies with global ambitions in disciplines including corporate positioning, stakeholder engagement, issues and crisis management, CSR and digital PR.

Chris is experienced in delivering spokesperson training, presentation training and crisis communications training and has trained as many as 500 spokespeople and communications specialists from companies such as IBM, Rio Tinto, Nokia, Philips, Lenovo, NTT, PayPal, Yahoo, ARM, to name just a few.

Chris is also a regular speaker at various PR industry forums and a guest lecturer at several EMBA programs around the Asia Pacific region.
